THE DIFFERENCE BEGINS WITH LAWPOINT

Tracey O’Connell was working as a solicitor for one of the UK’s top law firms when she decided there were better and more cost-efficient ways to provide integrated business and legal services. Lawpoint was born and Tracey was proven right.

“We’re not just lawyers,” she said, “we’re also business people.”

Lawpoint has little time for legal myths and mysteries. They actually believe in helping you understand contract law and its implications for your business.

“Our approach is simple,” said Tracey, “we explain things as we go.”

Lawpoint believes in making a difference by playing to its strengths in contract law, but additional expertise can be called in when it matters.

“Size doesn’t matter. What matters is delivering great service at a fraction of the cost.”

If you’re not sure exactly what you need, why not contact Lawpoint for a free, exploratory chat over coffee?

They’ll help you work it out… and they’ll buy the coffee.

Meet Tracey

Tracey  has over 20 years experience in the legal industry where she worked for one of the UK’s top law firms as a contracts solicitor.  It was Tracey’s pre-law experience in business, together with her time with some of the UK’s largest law firms, that made her think about bringing these two areas of expertise together to form Lawpoint. Tracey took the bold decision to relinquish her title as solicitor, hand in her shiny badge and set up a niche commercial contracts business. She has advised in-house lawyers, the directors of PLCs and international companies, and business people in diverse sectors, from manufacturing and retail, to engineering and technology, banking, telecommunications and, yes, a premier league football club.
Tracey has also worked as in-house solicitor for several companies including a major UK exhibition company and a software house.
Before starting her legal career she spent time as a troubleshooter, analysing and integrating the operational processes of businesses.

Tracey enjoys running and the odd glass or two of Prosecco, but never at the same time!

Meet Steve

Steve is an award-winning leisure manager, spending many years with  Forte and Granada Health and Leisure, before deciding to take a different path and follow his interest in accounting and finance. He now uses these skills, and many more, as a director of Lawpoint.
Even with his punishing work schedule, allegedly, Steve enjoys running, cycling, skiing and 5-a-side football. He’s also the older statesman in a local 11-a-side football team and, despite increasing the average age of the team by over 10 years, he still maintains that he is adding immeasurable value!

Meet Vince

Vince has recently joined Lawpoint as its Chairman. In the past he served in the Royal Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, specialising in airborne electronic systems. He then joined McDonnell Douglas Information Systems as a field service engineer before becoming Director of Services in 1996.

The head hunters snapped him up and, in 1999, Vince joined the Board of NET G International as the International Client Services Director where he had a successful three-year career until the business was sold in 2002. Forever onwards, Vince went to Wincore Nixdorf and then to Barron McCann before becoming Managing Director at Vista Retail Support as Managing Director in 2005. With ten years at Vista, including taking the lead in two successful MBOs in 2008 and 2013, Vince decided to retire at just 64 in 2015.
They say that busy people never really retire and Vince, obviously unable to sit still, began taking an interest in other businesses, bringing with him the skills and experiences gained in his previous lives. Vince is now the Chair of Law Point, and continues his interests in management consultancy work.

Meet Alison

Alison is a Commercial Contracts Lawyer at Lawpoint and has a keen eye for detail and enjoys helping clients navigate their contracting  and data protection processes. With her law degree from Bournemouth University, Alison worked with a local solicitor for over five years, before joining Lawpoint in 2016, where along with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts she also provides data protection advice and adding to her well deserved reputation.

Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, part of that reputation has seen her referred to as ‘quirky’ and she’s also passionate about her life outdoors, which has included scuba diving (rescue diver level), abseiling down tall buildings (very high) and skydiving (higher still). To relax, Alison runs and takes very little notice of obstacles like mud, fences or high walls. Alternatively you’ll find her crocheting stuffed animals – (we did say she was quirky!).   She also likes a nice cup of tea, leaving more prosecco for the others!
